Consolation: Free Agents 20 Vikings 9
The Conway brothers: Bubby, Liam and Declan, together with Michael Korosi, jump-started the Free Agents with an 8 goal run in the 1st period. Then on to a record breaking goal scoring game and victory in the Consolation match. Dom Anselmo took the win in net turning away a late rally by Shawn and Garrett Sadler, A.J. Bailey, with guest players Jake Tackett and Connor Stump.
Division l Championship (OT): Boilermakers 12 Thunder Turtles 11
Overtime finals in Dek Hockey are rare and exciting. Zach Grandstaff put in the game winner in sudden death overtime to break an 11-11 tie, his 5th and final goal. Teammates Nick Laudato (3 goals 1 assts), Pat Kristo (2 goals 2 assists), and Jason Pickering (2 goals 2 assists) added speed and cunning to overcome a 4 goal deficit. The Thunder Turtles were more than up to the task with 4 goals each by Jake Tackett and Connor Stump, a hat trick by Brandon Hudock, and assists from Connor Robbins and Brady Kloss. The win in the crease to Mike Thompson.
Division ll Championship: Zero Pucks Given 3 Mizfits 2
The final was an arduous defensive battle featuring a host of stunning saves by goalies Adam Grady (ZPG) and Matt Wiess (Mizfits). Jason Wiess scored both goals for the Mizfits. Determined support falling short of victory came from Adam Dudziak, Kris, Emily and Matt Wiess, Rob and Greyson Drago. The Mizfits recent playoff run upsets of Westcor and the Boilermakers were impressive, only to have the trophy slip away at the final bell. ZPG’s entire roster contributed in the hard fought win with points by Tristan and Brian Bly, Mark Contorno and Nick Laudato. The rush for hardware included defense by Erik Schmidt, Justin Szucs and a Greg Crissman. The win in goal to Adam Grady.
