Avery 6 Westcor 4
A 6 goal romp by Van Hutchinson was enough to carry the League Champion Avery (in Grey) to victory over 2nd seed Westcor(in Red). Van had help from Dom Anselmo—standing tall in net for the win—and a point each from Sam Touvissi, Jeff Burhenne and Sebastion Diaz. Westcor’s goals came from Mike Timms, Mark Abraham, and a pair from John Kuzniar. The goaltending battle was a classic between Dom Anselmo and Mike Thompson for Westcor. Avery advances to the semi-final with their choice of opponenet, and Westcor also advances on their league record.
Zero Pucks Given 14 Deck Rescue 5
The 4th and 5th seeds match found things coming together for ZPG. Their teamwork showed as the goal scoring ran rampant. With Brendan Moreau lead with 6 goals, a hat trick for Justin Szucs, 2 goals for Mark Contorno, and a goal each for Greg Crissman and Brian Bly. For Deck Rescue Nick Laudato managed a hat trick, a supporting goal and 3 assists from Dom Anselmo, and a goal from Jason Bracken. Ritchie K launched the first goaltender’s goal in Northeast Ohio Dek Hockey history: travelling from the opposite net, as well as taking the win from a battling Tony Boris. ZPG now heads for the semi -final, and Deck rescue the Consolation.
Painesville Furniture & Carpet 6 Fancy Boyz 3
Both PFC and Fancy Boyz showed up for the playoffs at full strength to battle for a spot in the semis. PFC prevailed, lead by Mike Ingenthron with a hat trick, 2 goals and 2 assists for Tony Parenti, a goal from Derek Pixley, and assists from Kenin Myles (2) and Joe Reedy (1).
For Fancy Boyz Steve Wilson spearheaded the resistance alliance with 2 goals, a goal and an assist from the relentless Derek Cogar, and an assist from Dave Whitcomb .Grayson Seig was hot in net for the win over a fierce Steve DiMatteo. PFC heads for the semis and Fancy Boyz the Consolation.
