D2 Playoffs
Painesville Furniture & Carpet 16 vs. Zero Pucks Given 6
The top seeds squared off for the first round of playoffs with the PFC squad working like a well-oiled machine. While both teams’ records warrant advancing to the semi-finals, it was PFC that verified expectations of its undefeated run. Tony Parenti, Jeremy Letterman and Mike Ingenthrone tallied 4 goals each, not to mention a hat trick by Nick Larkin for PFC. ZPG was on their heels from the face off to the horn, with determined points from Eric Heidenreich, Dan Fritsche, Brendan Moreau, Jeff Campbell and Greg Crissman. Mike Thompson sealed his 6th win in net for PFC.
Master Pizza 9 vs. Falvey Realty 4
Master Pizza rose to playoff form to win their first game and a trip to the semi-finals. Ray Snyder and Brandon Klinger lead the Green charge with a hat trick each. Bob Ivancic added 4 points and Ian Lengel 2 points in Master Pizza’s finest team effort to date. Mike Timms retaliated for Falvey with 4 goals and a little help from Mike Williams with 2 assists, and Sarah Timms.
Book Hockey 7 vs. Boilermakers 0
Book Hockey rallied to peak defensively in the opening game of the playoff round. They will now advance to the semi-finals. Goalkeeper Steve DiMatteo registered a shutout: the first in local Dek Hockey history. But you cannot win without goals, and points were tallied by Derek Cogar (3), Rick Dunham (2), Chris Slocombe (2) and Dave Whitcomb (2). The Boilers line gets most determined in the playoffs(not congeniality) with Seanna Conway, Alexis Mramor, Dillon Kupferman and Mackenzie Mramor being turned away in numerous rushes by a hot goalie.
