- Neil Conway III
Week 2 - D1
The Conway onslaught was stunning, and its quick and relentless attack ranging from all sides of the surface. The Boilers were resilient however, in creating turnovers in their failed attempts to mount a late comeback under the lights. Former pro hockey player Neil Conway had 6 goals, Junior Hockey Player Tyler Kallay 4 goals, with 7 points each by Jason Wiess and Brad Thiesen (Cleveland Monsters). Former Lake Catholic coach Sean Sadler added 4 points with Mike Mramor standing tall in his second game of the day in net. He had 2 daughters cheering the victory, both who play for the Barons. The Boilers never said die with points by Irish Nat’l Team defenseman Dean Kelly, Brian Przybyszewski, junior hockey player AJ Bailey(hat trick), and Rick Kish, too often foiled in the crease by Mramor. Lake Catholic’s Rob Kish never stopped battling in a hailstorm of orange rubber.
Quack Attack 17 Big Red Machine 15
Brothers Evan (John Carroll hockey) and Anthony (Cleveland State Hockey Coach) Krueger were nothing less than dazzling in their goal scoring rampage over a stubborn Big Red ensemble. Former New Jersey Junior Hockey player Brady Kloss looked good in his volunteer goalie debute for Big Red, as did Dominic Anselmo, former Mayfield High netminder in the crease for the Quack Attack. Mentor High Hockey duo Connor Stump and Jake Tackett lead an amazing third period rally, cutting the lead to one, only to fall short in the last game of a late evening of dek hockey in Painesville Kiwanis Recreation Park. Their almost successful comeback was brilliant, though falling short. The 32 goal scoring rampage was among the top in local dek hockey history.
